Head Of The Household - You Do Not Have To Be A Chauvinist

Saturday, September 29th, 2007

By Pekka Ahokas A chauvinist has a prejudiced belief in the superiority of one’s own gender, group, or kind. In a traditional family, a man is the head of the household. In too many cases the husband uses the “head of the household” definition as an excuse to mistreat or dominate his wife. In many cultures it is an accepted fact that the husband totally dominates the wife. In such cases the equality changes are more difficult to make since it is a centuries old tradition. In our western cultures, however, too many men still practice chauvinism on a daily basis. I think chauvinism is a sign of weakness. Such individuals have the need to dominate others and in most cases they exercise that need over their wives, the weaker vessels. Men that feel good about themselves and are secure have no need to dominate their wives. Granted, in most cases men usually make the final decision on matters, but it should be a compromise between the husband and wife. I have seen many grown men that demand their wives to cook and serve them all their meals each and every day. Daily chores like cooking can easily be shared. After all, it is a partnership. http://www.our-marriage-space.com/ Article Source: http://EzineArticles.com/?expert=Pekka_Ahokas http://EzineArticles.com/?Head-Of-The-Household—You-Do-Not-Have-To-Be-A-Chauvinist&id=319476 tramadol prescription cheap tramadol 180 buy tramadol online no prescription buy discount tramadol online

Roses and Juniper Rock Gardens

Thursday, September 27th, 2007

By Jan Verhoeff Wide circle driveways dont happen much anymore, but when they do, what do you do with them? Clear out the grass, mound up some soil, and park a few boulders in strategic positions and youve got the perfect spot for an artistic rose garden. Plant some dark green Juniper and a few golden-tipped junipers for background color before adding your roses. Invite people into your garden with planned paths, safe benches (protective distance from pokey thorns), and a shade providing arbor. A garden structure can be as formal or rustic as you please, make your choice, and design what suits your style. Personally, I prefer rustic structures, so mine sports rough hewn pine lodge poles and leather lashings. Cedar chips and lava rock provides moisture retaining mulch for the area. Low growing juniper and an occasional spot of Shasta daisies around the edge of the drive provide additional color and flora. A gazing ball nestled near the path, and bird feeders, add life to the garden without intruding. A birdbath near the center offers a restful trickle of water for those quiet afternoon siestas on a bench nestled into a cove of tall growing juniper. No circle driveway available for this garden design? Find a corner of your yard, or create an island oasis for roses in the middle of a broad expanse of lawn. For more definition, rough-cut logs, cut to different lengths can be buried around the edges, except for the footpaths. I prefer the rough look of open edges blending out to black top. Specific design details would be best left to the planter of this garden. Each person has their own preferences. I like blending short and tall growing versions of various plants, however, some folks want a more formal appearance. Health and Medicine - How To Make Going To The Hospital Less Stressful and Possibly Entertaining

Wednesday, September 26th, 2007

By [http://ezinearticles.com/?expert=Brandi_Clark] Brandi Clark You have not been feeling well for quite some time so you finally decide you will go see the doctor. Perhaps you feel OK energy-wise but know that you have other health concerns. After several tests the doctor determines that you need to go in the hospital. Great you sarcastically think to yourself. Besides having to take off work and get things in order at home before leaving, you may be thinking that you will be bored. This does not have to be the case. Here are a few ideas to remember to keep you entertained when going to the hospital: 1. Take a Book There will be times during your hospital stay that family or friends may not be able to stay with you. Take a book for these lull times. 2. Take Craft Supplies When you know in advance that you will be going in the hospital go to your local craft store and buy some craft supplies. While youre in the hospital, you may want to make different craft items that you can later display in your home or give to friends. Perhaps you enjoy painting or scrapbooking. Take the necessary items to work on these projects and you will find that the day will pass by much faster. 3. Order Out - If you are not on a restricted diet then one night order pizza and have it delivered! You will be surprised at how much fun this is. If you are tired of the hospital food and want a little change then this is the perfect idea. 4. Write Letters If you have thank you letters or birthday cards that need written then write those while you are in the hospital. Maybe you havent talked to a good friend in while then this would be the perfect time to rehash old memories. Sure, some people do not feel well when going to the hospital, but there are times that you may get tired of laying in bed waiting for a nurse or doctor to come visit. If possible, it is important to keep your mind active as well as your body. Going to the hospital is not a convenient trip but it doesnt have to be dreadful. Nails Times Ten

Tuesday, September 25th, 2007

By Jolene Schwartz There are ten tools at your fingertips, used to tighten screws, slit seals, crease paper, scratch itches, peel labels, scrape lottery tickets, tap out rhythm, and the ever politically-correct task of removing that spinach from between your teeth. Your fingernails are a universal tool, and most of us couldnt function without them being so close to (pardon the pun) hand. Fingernails are composed primarily of keratin; a tough, insoluble protein substance that is the chief structural constituent of hair, nails, horns, and hoofs. Nails grow about 1/8th inch per month and require 3 to 6 months to completely re-grow, while toenails grow about three times slower. Fingernail growth slows as you get older, in cold weather, during illness; mens nails grow faster than womans, and nails on the dominant hand grow faster. Your nails are always in sight, so it doesnt make a positive personal statement if they are grubby, broken, or split with rough, ragged cuticles. Taking care of your nails is no big thing, but there are a few things to keep in mind when it comes to nail care: Start with a good soak to soften things up and then cut straight across the front of the nail with a sharp clipper or nail scissors, use a nail board to shape, file in one direction to avoid splitting the nail. Buff nails with a 4 in 1 multi-function buffer to smooth ridges, rough spots and remove stains. Next apply a cuticle remover or cream, and push the cuticle back (Note: cuticle pens work really well here, the moisturizer is in the felt tip so you dont have to touch it and get your hands oily). Do not clip or cut ragged cuticles; this removes the nails protective barrier to bacteria and can cause irregular nail growth and infection. Clip hangnails and apply cuticle cream; biting and picking only tears the skin and makes things painfully worse. Now you have great looking, well-manicured healthy nails, lets work on your dry, rough hands: Gentle scrubbing with a granular scrub and a good brush will get the ground-in dirt on knuckles and around the nails. Follow up with a light aloe-based hand moisturizer; your hands wont feel or look greasy, just smooth and comfortable. You clean and maintain your work tools without a second thought, dont you? Remember to give your hands the same consideration. 2005 Jolene Schwartz Jolene Schwartz is a grooming specialist for over 20 years; as a master barber and licensed cosmetologist in her own mens salon. Tips and Tricks on Student Consolidation Loans

Sunday, September 23rd, 2007

By [http://ezinearticles.com/?expert=Mary_Wise]Mary Wise Though these loans are great for getting hold of the benefits portrayed above, there are many things that must be taken into account when undertaking student debt consolidation that may reduce or boost these benefits. Since knowledge doesnt take up space, read on and make sure to remember these tips and tricks so you can make the most out of your debt consolidation loan: Keep your Government Loans and your Private Loans Apart Federal student loans usually come with many benefits you surely want to keep. This includes a significantly lower interest rate that you wont be able to beat with any private consolidation loan. So if you need to consolidate your federal student loans, youll need to resort to government consolidation programs. Use private consolidation loans only with private student loans. Focus on getting rid of variable rate loans Though sometimes lower, variable rates tend to be a problem since you cannot predict market variations and thus your budgeting may be useless. If possible, consolidate all your variable rate loans into a single fixed interest student consolidation loan and leave fixed interest rate loans aside unless you can get a significantly lower interest rate with the consolidation loan. Watch for prepaying penalties Some lenders penalize those who pay off their debt sooner by adding extraordinary fees to the overall debt claiming additional administrative costs. If this is the case, you should leave low balance loans aside. If the fees are not covered by the amount of money youll be saving by consolidating the loan you will want to continue paying the loan on its original terms. Keep your credit report clean Try not to incur in delinquencies as this will be recorded into your credit history and prevent you from getting a good interest rate when applying for a consolidation loan. Before applying, always request your credit report and make sure everything is in order. If you happen to find any inconsistencies, contact the credit agency immediately and demand that they correct the inaccuracies. Many have been denied loans just because a credit agency employee had made a mistake. Avoid Trading Loan Length in exchange of Lower monthly payments Unless you really cant afford the loan installments, refrain from extending the length of the loan. It is best to get lower monthly payments by agreeing to a lower interest rate than to get them by adding to the number of outstanding monthly payments. Extending the loan length may solve your current cash flow problems by reducing your installments, but will increase the overall cost of the student consolidation loan turning it into a bad deal. It is best to cut on your expenses for a little while till your income increases than to consent on many years more of annoying debt. Help Me, I’m Addicted to Sugar

Sunday, September 23rd, 2007

By Kathryn Martyn, M.NLP A client wrote, “Help me! I thought I was finally getting a handle on my weight issue but the sugar is killing me. I had an awful day. I won’t even tell you what I ate today because it is just so unbelievable. All I will say is that 90% of my food today consisted of sugar! I really, really need some help getting past these cravings. I am no doubt a sugar addict. If I could get past this there is no doubt that I will reach my goal.” If you see a little of yourself in this message, you’re not alone. Many describe themselves as sugar addicts. They believe if it were only for that one thing, then they could reach their weight loss goals. If you believe only one thing stands in your way of losing weight, consider this: What if that one thing (an addiction to sugar for instance) were gone? Do you really believe, “If I could get past this, there is no doubt that I will reach my goal,” or is it an easy excuse to stay stuck? If I told you I could show you a way to stop craving sugar, would you want me to show you how? Think about that for a moment. Close your eyes and really think it through. You’ve said if only you didn’t crave sugar, then you could lose weight, but is that really true for you? Ask yourself these questions: Would you eat differently, and if so how? Would you act differently, and if so how? What else would change, and what would stay the same? What would you lose? What would you gain? Until you know what you want, know you can achieve it, and know what else will change (i.e. how your life may be different), you can’t discover any obstacles that first must be considered. For instance, you may want to stop eating anything after 7 PM yet your husband doesn’t come home from work until 8 and he wants you to join him for dinner. That’s an obstacle. If you’ve got a habit of watching your favorite TV show with a bowl of ice cream, then breaking that habit is another obstacle. If you don’t work out ways to overcome your obstacles perhaps through discussion and compromise with your husband, or habit breaking exercises for your ice cream habit, there’s bound to be a problem. Just saying you’re not going to do something any mroe rarely works. Instead determine what might stand in the way of achieving your goals, find a way around them, and you’re much more likely to actually achieve those goals once and for all. The statement, “if this one thing were handled, then everything else would fall into place” is an “If Then” statement and gets people into trouble. They want a fairy godmother to make it all better. A strong belief that one single thing such as, “eating sugar is my problem,” sets you up to fail, especially if you really like eating sugary foods. Getting a handle on your cravings is not an all-or-nothing proposition. You must leave room for occasional deviations. It’s not the occasional side trip that causes weight trouble, it’s the road we usually travel. In NLP (Neuro Linguistic Programming) a good starting point is the exercise called Establishing a Well Formed Outcome. “Well formed” means it meets all criteria of a well thought-out end result. NLP: How to Create a Well Formed Outcome & Get What You Want Here are the steps to creating a well formed outcome: 1) State what you want (not what you do not want). “I want to weigh 135 pounds.” 2) Determine whether you can achieve it (do you believe it is possible?). 3) What resources do you have and what do you need (time, money, gear, clothes, equipment, coaching, whatever). 4) Check whether anyone else is involved and any potential obstacles that may come up regarding others. Think of everyone involved in your day-to-day life. 5) Picture yourself “as if” you’ve obtained what you say you want and see if that picture fits. Do you like what you see? 6) Put together a plan of action for the achievement of your outcome. While it may seem like a lot of effort simply to decide what you really want, going through these steps at the beginning helps you find potential obstacles which previously stopped you from moving forward. For example, if you decide you want to join a gym and start exercising every day but you’ve forgotten you don’t even own a car and just lost your job, that exercise plan might not work out right now. If you did join a gym, you’d end up not going and then you’d think you’d failed, yet it was the plan that failed, not you. You didn’t think it through. A better plan in this instance may be doing exercises at home, or within walking distance (or simply walking for exercise). Later, when you do have transportation, you can rethink the plan and perhaps join a gym then. There are always options. It’s better to look at what you want from every angle, then put together a plan you know can and will work. Then when you know what you want, you’ll also know you can make it happen and begin by taking that first step toward making it a reality. “Achieving a Well Formed Outcome” is one of the sessions in the Ending Emotional Eating 8-Week Workshop. You can also find more information on this popular and well known NLP process by searching for “NLP Well Formed Outcome” in your favorite search engine. ~~ Kathryn Martyn, Master NLP Practitioner, EFT counselor, author of the free e-book: Changing Beliefs, Your First Step to Permanent Weight Loss, and owner of OneMoreBite-Weightloss.com Get The Daily Bites: Inspirational Mini Lessons Using EFT and NLP for Ending the Struggle with Weight Loss. So, What Do You Do For a Living?

Monday, September 17th, 2007

By Jay Hamilton-Roth The first time you meet someone, what’s one of the first things that they ask(”What do you do for a living”)? Underneath the question they are really asking: Can you help me? Can I help you? Can we help each other? Are you someone I should look up to? Most of us answer the question with a label (”I’m a realtor”). The conversation is most likely over; the other person’s life experience has assumed they know what you do and how you do it. After all, how different are realtors? Your could describe what you do (”I represent buyers in real estate transactions”). You are more specific, but still the listener is waiting to get the answer to the question, “Can you help me?”. You haven’t engaged them at all. You could answer the question with a description of what makes you unique (”I help new buyers find a home of their dreams”). The uniqueness helps set you apart, but again you haven’t engaged the listener. Instead tell the listener what problem you solve (”I work with people who are looking for the house of their dreams and are afraid of the whole house-buying process and are afraid paying too much.”) The focus is now not on you or your process but what you can do to help them. People can relate to the problem you’re describing. And you’ve opened the door for the next question, “How do you do that?” Marketing your business takes time. You want people to get to know you. To trust you. To be interested in seeing how you can help them. To buy something from you. We dream of the instant sale. The reality is that it takes work to build a customer relationship. Remember every time you talk to someone is a marketing opportunity. Hydroponics Gardening - An Introduction to Hydroponics Gardening for Beginners (Part 12) H2O2

Saturday, September 15th, 2007

By John R. Haughton Hydrogen Peroxide (H2O2) is a water molecule with an extra atom of Oxygen attached (2H2O + O2 = 2H2O2). This extra Oxygen atom is quite easily detached from the water molecule and eagerly combines with any suitable substance that has the room for it. For example it will attack organic blood cells. Any chemists shop will sell you some concentrated 35% Hydrogen Peroxide, which may be diluted with water to give a 3% solution for human use. This diluted solution is good for treating minor cuts and scrapes etc. It is also used for softening ear wax. It works by oxidising the chemical parts that are presenting as having a free space for the Oxygen atom. When H2O2 comes in contact with these impurities it will give a reaction which causes it to fizz. This fizzing is the Oxygen atoms coming out of their bond with the water molecules and bubbling out of the solution. As gardeners, we can use this eagerness to break its bond to help keep our plants free from everyday pests. In the same way as old organic blood cells are attacked and consumed by the fizzing action of the peroxide, so will any bacteria and small insects be destroyed by a solution of up to 5% H2O2. At this strength it is safe for human skin but lethal to most bugs. Mix up the following for a weekly preventative spray: Add to 1Litre of Water: 30ml of 35% Hydrogen Peroxide 20 ml of Alcohol (Old style mouth wash works well) 2ml of wetting agent (Washing up liquid will do) Use this mixture as a foliar spray to keep your plants healthy and free from bugs. Another advantage of the Peroxide breaking down is that it releases free Oxygen into the area. So, if you were to add some to your nutrient tank, the dissolved Oxygen being released around the root system not only kills any bad root material and bacteria, but also oxygenates the roots with the excess Oxygen produced. Plants can easily cope with a 5% H2O2 solution and because the mixture reduces to water in a short space of time, the dilutions are not that critical. For this reason, it also makes a great disinfectant for plant pots, greenhouses and grow-rooms. It may be used at 10% for these jobs, but make sure to only use it if the area is plant free. A really great advantage is that you do not have to rinse it away after use because it will revert to water on its own. Click the link to see how NASA is planning to use this sanitizing Hydrogen Peroxide system. http://www.primidi.com/2005/08/29.html A partner in a thriving retail hydroponics supply business, Rickie Haughton is the owner of http://www.hydroponics-gardening-information.com Your First Choice For Hydroponics Gardening Information, the Hydroponics-Gardening-Information website is packed with good content about all aspects of hydroponics gardening and offers a free Hydroponics Gardening Information Club membership to all subscribers.
