Helpful Tips To Use During A Date

Friday, February 29th, 2008

By Peter Portero When you dont date a lot, you can get really nervous about that first date. There are a few things you can remember that will help the night go a little smoother. First, be sure to listen to what your date is telling you. By listening to your date and watching for non-verbal clues, you will be able to tell how the date is going. If your date is shying away from you that may be your cue to back off slightly. Second, be sure to arrive on time. If you tell your date that you are going to pick them up at 7pm, show up at 7pm. Remember, earlier does not necessarily mean better. You do not want to show up and find your date still in the shower. Also, if you are meeting your date at a neutral location it is particularly important show up on time. Nobody wants to stand around and wait. Do not think of the date as the end all. If you do not take the date too seriously and go in with a good attitude, you will have a better chance of having a good time. Remember, it is only one night. Lastly, remember there are two people on a date, so remember to talk as well as listen. Your date does not want to listen to you blabber on all night long; but at the same time he or she does not want to have to carry the conversation. We are a new web cam chat site that allows men and women to meet and date through webcams. Top 4 Promotional Materials

By Kara Kelso Sometimes a business card just doesn’t cut it, and we have to look to other means for getting the word out about our business. Some of the following ideas you may have seen, others you may not have thought about. Regardless, each method is ment to help get your name out there and increase your sales. Flyers These can be effective for announcing events or any type of major announcement. Before you start posting, make sure you have permission first! Brochures Think of them like mini-catalogs, able to highlight the best or most interesting products in your line. If your company doesn’t offer these, you can easily make them on your home computer. You may want to check with your company to make sure this is allowed first, and that you are able to use product pictures. Hand them out to customers and only those who show interest in your products. Catalogs These should be saved for your current customers only, showing the most current products you offer. If your company doesn’t offer catalogs, again you can always make them at home. Don’t forget to check with your company before handing them out! Printed Promotional Products This would include things like pens, shirts, or any other item your name and info can be printed on. Some direct sales companies offer these, while others you will have to take to a printing company. If you decide to look into something like this, be sure the product matches your company. For example, if you sell food mixes, you may want to use candy bar wrappers with your logo. Check with your company first before investing large amount of money into this. These are just a few ideas to help jump start your business, and help get your name out there. Make good impressions - give your customers and future customer something they won’t forget! ———————— About the Authors: Kara Kelso & Anita DeFrank are two busy wahms, and the owners of Direct Sales Helpers. Memory Loss Linked to Overweight

Thursday, February 28th, 2008

By Gabe Mirkin, M.D. How could excess weight cause memory loss? Full fat cells produce proteins called cytokines that turn on your immunity to cause inflammation that damages tissue throughout your body, including your brain. Researchers at Toulouse University Hospital in France tested people first in 1996 and again five years later. During that period, overweight people lost far more of their ability to recall words than their thinner counterparts. (Neurology, October 2006). Your immunity is supposed to protect you from infections. When a germ gets into your body, your immunity produces white blood cells and proteins called antibodies that attach to and kill germs. As soon as the germ is gone, your immunity is supposed to stop making antibodies and white blood cells. In some people the immunity remains active and attacks a persons own body to cause heart attacks, strokes, certain cancers, and even diabetes. This recent study shows that it may even attack your nerves and brain. Being overweight can cost you IQ points, and the most effective way to prevent obesity is to exercise regularly. How much do you need to exercise to lose weight? In one recent study, researchers asked people to walk and count an extra 2000 steps each day (Journal of Human Nutrition & Dietetics, August 2006). This is really a minimal amount of exercise. They also kept complete food diaries. They lost weight and did not increase their food intake. When you start an exercise program, your appetite may increase, but this will not increase your caloric intake to equal the extra calories that you burn. For example, if you burn 600 calories with added exercise, you may take in 200 calories extra and you will lose weight. Exercise helps you lose weight by raising your metabolism so you burn more calories for several hours after you finish exercising. However, only vigorous exercise that increases body temperature and makes you sweat will increase your metabolism enough to continue burning more calories after you finish. Overweight is a major cause of premature death and increases risk for heart attacks, strokes, cancers and arthritis. If you are out of shape and want to lose weight, get a stress cardiogram and ask your doctor to clear you for an exercise program. Start slowly and then gradually increase the intensity of your exercise over several months. 7 Simple Tips To Better Weight Loss

Wednesday, February 27th, 2008

By Karl Warren In this article you will discover some simple, yet effective weight loss tips which will help you break your bad habits and fight off the cravings. When you can feel a craving coming on, brush your teeth… When your belly is not rumbling but your mind is telling you to open the refrigerator, it is time to unleash the toothbrush. When you are not physically hungry but you are craving food, brushing your teeth can work wonders. It is a little known fact that brushing your teeth can help the craving pass and you will no longer feel like eating. Next time you’re craving chocolate, give it a try. Old habits don’t die hard… It is easy to fall into a routine, for example - when you settle into your seat at the cinema, isn’t it nice to have a big tub of popcorn and a Coke to hand? When we begin to associate snacks with other pleasurable experiences, habits begin to form. Next time you visit the cinema, why not skip the popcorn? Try drinking Diet Coke or even water. You are allowed to eat, don’t starve yourself… Eating when you have a good appetite is always the best approach to dieting, if you wait until you are starving you will find that you eat more. If you deprive yourself of food, you are more prone to binge eating. Junk food and snacks always seem more appealing on an empty stomach. You actually NEED fat…Fat is an essential source of energy, however, there are good fats and bad fats. Good fats can be found in fish oil, oil from seeds, nuts and olives. Dairy products, red meat and fried food contain bad fats. Change your attitude to food… Did you know? Babies only demand food when they are hungry, they stop eating when they are full. As we grow up, we are ‘rewarded’ for good behaviour with treats such as sweets and biscuits - when we are older, we treat ourselves with chocolate and ice-cream… this is why we eat for comfort when we are upset. By understanding where this habit comes from, you can begin to combat it - why not treat yourself to a makeover or a new pair of jeans instead? What a perfect incentive to hit your weight loss goals. Don’t take yourself too seriously… Becoming fanatical about your weight can be counter productive, furthermore, you are more likely to succeed when you enjoy what you are doing. Let’s take jogging for example, it would be ridiculous to jog five mile per day if you simply don’t like jogging - in next to no time you would become jaded and probably resort back to not exercising at all. You should take time to discover the things you enjoy, try swimming, jogging or even cycling. Don’t be afraid to say no… Sometimes other people do not understand your goals. For example, you’re out to dinner and your friend exclaims “you must have dessert!” It can be difficult to say no. We don’t want to appear rude, but, do you ‘really’ need to eat dessert? If you’re not comfortable saying no, perhaps you could say “It looks great but I’m full, I’ll definitely try it next time.” It is a much kinder approach and rarely offends. Home Of The Year

Monday, February 25th, 2008

By David Leonhardt We were gathered ’round the television, where Little Lady was watching an episode of Stuart Little. The kids had entered their house for a Home Of The Year contest sponsored by some fancy magazine. I turned to my wife with yet another one of my way-too-brilliant ideas. “Why don’t we enter the Home Of The Year contest?” I asked. My wife looked around in horror. “What? With this place?” Little Lady, just over two years old, was looking for the green crayon. “Sure,” I replied, obviously missing something. “Why not? It’s a great home.” “This place is a mess,” my wife said in frustration, as she started slipping the videos back into their sleeves. “What magazine would call this home of the year? Dump Monthly? Trash Can News? Oh, I know Bad Housekeeping?” Little Lady emptied the crayon box on the floor. “Oh come on,” I answered. “This is a wonderful home full of love and joy. See all the drawings taped to the wall?” “In the Home Of The Year, there are no crayon drawings taped to the wall,” my wife explained with just a hint of patience. “There might be an original Rembrandt or Van Gogh, or perhaps an exceptional imitation. It would be placed in an elegant frame.” Little Lady found the green crayon. Now she needed a sheet of paper on which to draw. “I don’t know,” I hesitated. “Rembrandt and Van Gogh don’t sound very homey. I suspect you might find them in the Museum Of The Year contest.” “Just look at this dust!” my wife cried. She blew on the top of the television set, which temporarily vanished into the haze. Little Lady emptied her bookshelf with one fell swoop, but still could not find paper on which to draw. “OK, so it’s dusty,” I admitted. “If we dusted more frequently, we would spend less time together and it would be less of a home.” “The Home Of The Year contest Committee really does not care whether we spend time together,” my wife said. She headed toward the kitchen in search of iced tea, nearly tripping over a bag of clothes along the way. “They just want to see a spotless house with all the classiest decorations.” Who needs paper, anyway. Little Lady found a blank spot on the wall, and started applying her green crayon. “Well, that might make a good House Of The Year, but a home is a place to live in. It needs to exude love and comfort, not cleanliness,” I said. Apparently, I was still clueless. “Homes of the year never exude love, and certainly not comfort,” she explained, picking up a copy of Good Housekeeping from the floor. “They are showcases of a woman’s ability to keep a house in immaculate condition with absolute precision … despite the presence of a male creature around.” Ouch. Little Lady gleefully switched to the red crayon. “Well I don’t know anything about keeping a house tidy, but if that’s what the magazines want, why don’t they call it The Janitorial Olympics?” I asked. “I don’t know. Maybe it’s too hard for them to spell,” my wife replied, smiling. “But they don’t, so just get used to reality. We simply do not have even the slightest, tiniest, most minuscule hope of ever winning the Home Of The Year contest.” By then, Little Lady had drawn three stick figures on the wall. “My home,” she shouted, running to give Mommy a big hug. I didn’t need a magazine to tell me we already lived in the home of the year. And if the dust doesn’t kill us off first, we will live there every year. 10 Simple Steps for Fixing Your Cell Phone If It Gets Wet!

Sunday, February 24th, 2008

By [http://ezinearticles.com/?expert=David_Woodford]David Woodford Who hasn’t experienced the gut-wrenching sensation of seeing their cell phone fall in to the pool; or the sharp intake of breath when a cup of coffee is spilled over the phone! What do you do (other than panic) when that happens? Look at the 10 suggested steps below - and maybe not all is lost after all. 1. First - and most important - get it out of the water! 2. Also urgent - remove the battery. Prevent any interactions FAST! 3. Remove your SIM card. All your vital information is here. Even if you don’t rescue your phone, at least rescue your SIM card. For now, just put it to one side to dry out naturally. 4. Remove as much water as possible as quickly as possible. Just use an absorbent material (toweling or paper tissues) 5. An alternate drying technique is to seal the phone (with everything removed) in a plastic bag with a few of silica packs that you get with electronic goods etc. Leave the phone in the bag for a day or two, and it may be that the silica will absorb the moisture 6. Give time for the phone to dry. Don’t experiment with putting the battery back on to see if it works as this would risk damaging the phone with a short circuit. 7. Be patient and wait. Yes - be patient! Let nature have its way; just leave it in a warm place and let the water evaporate. 8. Try replacing the battery if all else fails. They are not expensive and it may solve the problem 9. See if there is a loan phone available. That will also make the waiting process easier. 10. Test it out. After being patient for 3 days, make sure everything is clean and dry and re-attach the battery to the phone and see if it works. If your phone does not work, wait another few days. If it still won’t work, try taking your cell phone to an authorized dealer. Sometimes they can fix it. Other ideas * Place it on top of the vent of a cable box, monitor or TV for at least 24 hours (up to 3 days). The low heat emitted is enough to gently dry out the phone. * If your phone falls in to salt water (like the ocean for instance), remove the battery and rinse with fresh water before crystals can form. * Consider soaking your phone in distilled water to wash away any minerals it picked up from the original water. Be careful * Do not under any circumstances heat the battery - it could leak or explode. Lithium-ion batteries are sensitive. If you use an oven or hairdryer, remove the battery first. * If you use alcohol for the drying process, only do so to the outside, and do not apply heat in any way shape or form, not even the gentlest of heat. Do not connect the battery until the alcohol smell goes away * And, if it’s not stating the obvious, do not put the phone into the microwave. You will fry the components and probably ruin the microwave! If you want to find out what to do if the phone still doesnt work go to http://www.info4u-services.com/cellphone - it will be worth it! Informal Bridal Gowns

Thursday, February 21st, 2008

By Ross Bainbridge One of the most exciting days in the life of a woman is her wedding day. A wedding day can be planned in different ways. While some people go for ostentatious, elaborate weddings, others like it to be a simple affair. They prefer low-key beach or backyard type wedding. In the latter kind of wedding, the brides like wedding dresses, which match up, to the simplicity of the occasion. Then there are those who are getting married for the second time and prefer their dress to be less elaborate. To cater to the needs of such clients, designers have come up with little different kind of wedding gowns called informal wedding gowns. Informal wedding gowns are easily available and are less expensive than very fancy gowns. They are preferred because brides consider them more practical given the fact that the wedding gowns are worn once in a lifetime and for that reason, don’t need to be as expensive as they sometimes are. Some brides prefer informal wedding gown for a simple reason of looking different. They find gowns without flowing lace and silk and elaborate veil, unique and eye catching. Informal wedding gowns are designed keeping in mind the outdoor and the indoor factors such as climate, fashion, theme and invitees. Unlike formal gowns, arrangements have to be made for wedding gloves, headpieces ad ornaments in case of informal wedding gowns. The designing of the informal bridal gown is different from the formal ones in the sense that the formal do not have cathedral length, have detachable train that can be removed at will to allow for ease and comfort. They can have short cap sleeve or long sleeve to allow bride to show or hide her arm. Instead of silk used in traditional formal gowns, informal gowns are usually made of affordable, man-made fabric. They have detachable straps and are available in many colors, without rich embellishments. Informal wedding gowns are intended to be sleek and simple. The whole idea behind the informal wedding gown is to give a bride ease and comfort and make her look special, sophisticated and different on her special day. Shop Late and Alone to Save Time and Money

Monday, February 18th, 2008

By Kelly McCausey If you want to save money on your grocery budget, be sure to leave the children at home and if you want to get through the aisles faster, try shopping late at night. It might sound crazy to you but really think about it. Wouldn’t it be a nice treat to get out of the house for an hour or so in the evening? Just you and your shopping list without a ‘Mommy I need you!’ in ear shot. If there’s one thing that is sure to put me in a sour mood, it’s waiting in a line at the store! I can’t stand looking at the long row of empty check outs that I could be waltzing through if there were only more cashiers on duty! Shopping late cures that, I never have to wait my turn for anything. If hubby isn’t thrilled at the prospect of getting the kids off to bed on his own, show him how your late night foraging is going to save the family budget a lot of dough. First of all, taking the kids with you to the store almost always ends up costing you more money. Whether it’s candy and pop at the check out or all the ‘Momma, we have to have this!’ items that they beg for while wandering the store all those extras add up. When it’s just you, you’re more likely to stick to your list. It’s my experience that shopping with kids in tow will cause me to spend an average of $15 a week more on groceries. That’s $60 a month and over $700 in a year. Offer to funnel the extra cash into a family vacation fund. That ought to go over well. When the kids ask why you don’t take them shopping anymore you can just tell them you’d rather take them to Disney World. Kelly McCausey hates to wait in line for anything. LASIK Malpractice

Saturday, February 16th, 2008

By Kevin Stith LASIK, pronounced LAY-sik, is actually an acronym for LAser in SItu Keratomileusis. It is a type of refractive surgery procedure in which the cornea of the eye is reshaped to alter its optical ability. This is being done to correct myopia, astigmatism, and hyperopia, LASIK malpractice occurs when the surgeon does not perform the procedure right and results to a damage in the eye or both eyes of the patient. Complications during the surgery can lead to patient complaining of LASIK malpractice. In refractive surgery, there are a few complications the surgeon should anticipate and explain to the patient. Awareness of these complications can help the patient make an informed decision if he wants to continue the procedure or not. Such complications range from problems that are quite negligible to bothersome, the worst case scenario being losing an eye. But since the procedures of refractive surgery are always being refined over and over again, the occurrence of the worst case scenario has actually decreased to almost being nonexistent. However, even small problems continue to disturb some unfortunate patients. One complication of refractive surgery or LASIK is regarding the formation of cataract in the crystalline lens of the eye. They make the lens so foggy that light can no longer pass through to reach the cornea, thus making you temporarily blind. While a cataract can be cured by performing lens implant, this requires additional eye surgery which means having additional risks of infection and damage. Another complication of LASIK is involved in the correction of high amounts of myopia (the scarring of the central cornea) where the laser in the surgery is focused. This scarring serves as a filter of the light passing through the central cornea and, due to the formation of clouds and haze, vision is reduced. The glare and halos that patients usually complain about are also caused by this light diffusion. Finally, the epithelial growth into the cornea stroma is another serious complication of LASIK, producing significant vision problems. This happens when the epithelium lining the front of the cornea begins to develop into the stroma area and gradually invades it. These complications are what eye surgeons should prevent so that they will not be alleged for malpractice.
